STUDIO


Amalgame Studio is a satellite design practice founded in 2024 by Emmie Massias and Marine Col. The studio draws on territorial research and material cultures, exploring furniture and objects as a medium to trace artisanal knowledge systems. 

An amalgam refers to a blend or mixture of elements, scientifically known as an alloy of mercury with another metal. 
   In French, the expression faire un amalgame is often used to suggest a misleading generalisation or a confusion of entities.
 
Navigating between local craftsmanship and industry, their work embraces the contrasts and contradictions embedded in raw materials, processes, and the narratives they carry.
